DIG Ops Lahore Ashfaq Pledges to Improve Condition of City Police Stations

LAHORE– DIG Operations Lahore Ashfaq Khan has pledged to improve the overall condition of city police stations following the vision of Punjab police chief Captain (retired) Arif Nawaz Khan, saying effective policing could not be made possible without improving the police culture.

He was presiding over a high level meeting in his office on Monday.

SSP Operations Lahore Ismail ur Rehman Kharak, SP Security Lahore Muhammad Naveed, SP VVIP Security, SP Headquarter, SP CRO, all the divisional SPs alongwith DSPs and related officers attended the meeting.

DIG Operations Lahore Ashfaq Khan reviewed the overall condition of law and order, crime control and security arrangements of the city and directed the concerned officers to further improve the security measures of important citizens and places.

Ashfaq Khan said that concrete steps should be taken to stop the incidents of molestation of children as well as other related crimes in the city.

Ashfaq Khan said that divisional SPs and circle officers are sole responsible for the functioning of CCTV cameras installed in the Police Stations.

There will be zero tolerance on the functioning and record saving issues of these cameras installed in SHOs rooms, front desks and lockups of the Police Stations, he added.

Ashfaq Khan further directed that the CCTV cameras installed on Dolphin Squad and Police Response Unit vehicles should also be kept in functional conditions whereas their data is safely recorded at the Punjab Safe Cities Authorities.

DIG Operations said that due to the effective policing of Lahore Police (Operations wing) and institutional as well as administrative reforms, sense of protection has been improved in the citizens as Perception Report of International survey (World Crime Index) shows that Lahore has been graded at 214 place among the cities of world as it has been declared safer city where condition of control on crimes has improved.

Ashfaq Khan directed divisional SPs to implement on safety measures including use of bullet proof jackets and other necessary gadgets before initiating any action against criminals, proclaimed offenders and drug peddlers.

A coordinated and mutual line of action should be adopted to control the incidents of motor cycle theft, robbery and burglary in coordination with investigation wing and other related departments. He further directed all SPs to conduct crime review meetings of their respective divisions on regular basis.

Ashfaq Khan said, to improve the working of Police Stations, all divisional SPs should visit Police Stations regularly and check the related record whereas also brief the staff to improve their behavior with the complainants.

He further directed to ensure alarm system and respond mechanism of the Police Stations functional, in case of any emergency situation.

Concerned departments should be requested in written to cancel the licenses of weapons if used in any criminal activity. All Police officers should brief their sub ordinate officers regarding Police Order 2002 and related rules to improve the overall performance of the Police Stations.

He said that all SHOs would submit the accessories of Police Stations in Resource Management Centre (RMC) of District Police Lines in case of their transfer to some other unit.

Ashfaq Khan stressed upon the need to arrange refresher courses of Reporting officers as well as SHOs for their behavioral change and improve the administrative affairs.

DIG Operations directed divisional SPs to convince all the shopkeepers of mobile phone markets to use e-Gadget app to stop the incidents of mobile thefts.

The campaign to arrest proclaimed offenders of A&B category should also be boost up to control heinous crime in the city, he concluded.— PRESS RELEASE
