ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a new Pakistan-made, QR code-based national identity (ID) card, replacing the imported microchip with a secure QR code. According to a NADRA statement, the new identity card has been manufactured in Pakistan using polycarbonate material. The QR code enables the card to be verified through an ordinary smartphone, while the PakID mobile app can be used to scan and authenticate the card.
