NEW YORK (Lahore Mirror) — US President Donald Trump has congratulated Democrats on their strong performance in the midterm elections, while rejecting suggestions that the Republican Party’s losses reflected public dissatisfaction with his leadership or policies.
In a phone interview with Fox News, Trump acknowledged the Democrats’ efforts, saying they had campaigned hard and deserved credit for their victories.
“The Democrats did a good job. They fought hard,” he said.
Several Republican candidates endorsed by Trump suffered defeats, including in states he had comfortably won in the 2024 presidential election.
However, Trump dismissed the possibility that the results represented a setback for his administration, blaming individual candidates for their defeats rather than broader political concerns.
He also rejected suggestions that voter concerns over the economy and the conflict involving Iran had contributed to the Republicans’ losses.
Asked whether he considered the election outcome a reflection of his presidency, Trump said he did not view it as a personal setback.
“I don’t view it as a hit on me,” he said, claiming his administration had delivered “the greatest two years in the history of the presidency.”
