ISLAMABAD: The government on Monday raised the price of petrol by Rs5.77 per litre and that of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs6.47. Following the revision, petrol will retail at Rs331.20 per litre while HSD will cost Rs390.42 per litre. The government continues to levy Rs114 per litre in taxes and duties on petrol and Rs100 per litre on diesel. According to the Petroleum Division’s notification, the new prices will be applicable for August 18 (Tuesday).

ISLAMABAD: The federal government’s debt increased by Rs18.8 trillion during the first 28 months of its tenure, according to State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) data. The SBP’s documents showed that between March 2024 and June 2026, the federal government’s domestic debt rose by Rs16,766 billion, while its external debt increased by Rs2,066 billion.
