Ring Road Authority, NLC Ink Concession Agreement For Construction Of Southern Loop

LAHORE– Commissioner Lahore Division and Chairman Ring Road Authority Saif Anjum Saturday said the Lahore Ring Road is achieving its next grand milestone today by concession agreement signing between the Lahore Ring Road Authority (LRRA) and the National Logistics Cell (NLC) for Southern Loop (SL3), construction from Raiwind Road to Multan Road at Maraka.

Construction of 8km long SL3 with 2 interchanges, 6 lanes dual carriage way and 3 subways would be completed in one year.

Imran Khan, Prime Minister of Pakistan, and Sardar Usman Buzdar, Chief Minister of Punjab graced the concession agreement signing between LRRA and NLC.

Chairman Lahore Ring Road Authority and Commissioner Lahore Division,Saif Anjum and Chief Operating Officer National Logistics Cell,Colonel Shah Jahan, signed on the concession agreement.

SL3 will be constructed on PPP mode on the basis of BOT, with an acquired area of 3098 kanals costing Rs. 4.586 billion. Construction cost of SL3 is Rs. 10 billion with a 25 years term on BOT (Build, Operate, Transfer) and proposal of M/s NLC was approved by PPP Policy & Monitoring Board in its 1stmeeting. Construction on 8 Km long SL3, having 90m ROW with design speed of 120 Km/h, would be immediately started after signing of concession agreement and Concessionaire shall be responsible for maintenance, operation and enforcement of the project for the entire concession period.

LRR SL3 will not only connect distant areas to city’s main junctions but also 34,000 vehicles / day would travel on it. Lahore Ring Road is also adding to Clean and Green campaign making city’s environment healthier and to reduce Smog menace. SL3 will have 2 Oxygen Pockets of approx. 50 kanal area for dense forestation and hence plantation all along the Ring Road.
