Punjab Assembly, DRI Ink MoU for Enhancing Working Efficiency of MPAs and Assembly Staff

LAHORE– The Democracy Reporting International (DRI) team headed by Country Representative Javed Ahmad Malik held a meeting with Secretary Punjab Assembly Muhammad Khan Bhatti in the Assembly Chambers on Thursday.

During the meeting, views were exchanged for enhancing working efficiency of the Assembly Members (MPAs) and Assembly staff.

Secretary Punjab Assembly Muhammad Khan Bhatti represented the Punjab Assembly and Javed Ahmad signed Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of DRI.

Agreement aims at enabling the members of the Senate of Pakistan, National Assembly and Members of four Provincial Assemblies to do effective legislation by taking advantage of each other’s experiences.

In the meeting, Director General Parliamentary Affairs Punjab Assembly Inayatullah Luk, Special Secretary Ch Amir Habib, Deputy Secretary Legislation Punjab Assembly Khalid Mehmood were also present.

Speaking on this occasion, Secretary Muhammad Khan Bhatti said that Speaker Punjab Assembly Ch Parvez Elahi has always endeavoured for better of the Assembly Members (MPAs) and the Assembly staff, DRI can play important role in bring the Punjab Assembly and the people of four provinces closer to each other, this will create atmosphere of harmony and brotherhood in the country.

According to the agreement, workshops will soon be organized for the Assembly Members which will help in doing better legislation.

Appreciating the Assembly staff performance, DRI team said that though they always provide services to the Assembly Secretary in appreciable manner, however, DRI has chalked out comprehensive programme for the training of MPAs as well as the Assembly staff.

Secretary Assembly appreciated the DRI project for enhancing working efficiency of the MPAs and the Assembly staff and expressed the hope that the DRI will implement its programme in the near future.— PRESS RELEASE
