LAHORE MIRROR — The cost of renewing a passport online has seen a significant rise of Rs 1,000, bringing the new fee to Rs 4,000, up from the previous Rs 3,000.
This increase also applies to urgent passport renewal services, with the fee climbing from Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 for both online and offline applications.
The key reason for this fee hike is the introduction of a home delivery service, where the renewed passport is couriered directly to the applicant’s doorstep. This convenient service is aimed at providing greater ease and accessibility for applicants but comes with an additional cost.
To apply for the online passport renewal service, applicants are required to submit a copy of their national identity card and current passport. Additionally, the application fee must be paid online.
This change in passport renewal fees is expected to support the implementation and maintenance of the home delivery service, ensuring a more streamlined and efficient process for passport applicants across the country.
