LAHORE MIRROR — The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) has unveiled ambitious plans to revamp airports across the country with the introduction of Electronic Gates, or E-gates.

This transformative initiative aims to streamline the airport experience for passengers by eliminating the often frustrating wait for boarding passes.

Waiting in long queues for boarding passes has been a common grievance for air travelers. With the implementation of E-gates, this inconvenience will become a thing of the past. These innovative gates will harness the biometric data stored in passengers’ passports, allowing them to effortlessly obtain their boarding cards by simply scanning their passports and tickets.

The initial phase of this groundbreaking E-gate project has been launched at three major international airports in Pakistan: Islamabad Airport, Allama Iqbal Airport in Lahore, and Jinnah International Airport in Karachi. This significant undertaking will be overseen by the Aviation Secretary and the Director-General of the Civil Aviation Authority (DGCAA), ensuring a seamless transition for travelers.

Furthermore, key stakeholders such as the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) will be actively involved in the project’s implementation. This initiative follows the government’s recent decision to outsource the management of Islamabad International Airport for a 15-year period, with similar plans in place for airports in Lahore and Karachi.

The introduction of E-gates promises to revolutionize the airport experience in Pakistan, providing passengers with a faster and more convenient way to obtain their boarding passes. As this ambitious project unfolds, travelers can look forward to a future of smoother and more efficient air travel throughout the country.
