ISLAMABAD– The federal government has been recommended 47 per cent increase in gas prices for fiscal year 2019-20 by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), a spokesman for the regulator said Friday.
The spokesman said Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) had requested the regulator for 144 per cent hike in gas price, whereas Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) sought 30 per cent increase.
He said public hearings were held on requests by the gas supplying companies in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta.
The spokesman said OGRA has recommended an average of 47 per cent hike in SNGPL system and 28 per cent in SSGC system.
A final decision regarding increase in gas prices would be made after approval from the federal government, he declared.
