Australian HC Calls on Speaker Punjab Assembly Parvez Elahi

LAHORE– Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Geoffrey Shaw called on Speaker Punjab Assembly Ch Parvez Elahi here on Monday. On this occasion, Ms Lauren Voga was also present.

In the meeting, views were exchanged about prevailing political situation in the country particularly and both sides agreed on promoting bilateral relations and trade between the two countries.

Ch Parvez Elahi said that Kashmir is lifeline of Pakistan, Modi has committed excessive oppression and suppression on Kashmir which are unprecedented, despite 50 days long curfew Modi has not been able to dampen the courage and spirit of the Kashmiris nor suppress the freedom movement, Prime Minister Imran Khan is getting Kashmiris struggle for freedom highlighted before the world.

He said that CPEC project is heading fast towards its completion because of it Pakistan will become trade hub of Asia, as the Chief Minister put all missionary schools under the control of the Church, first time created ministry for minorities and allocated funds, conferred university status on FC College, as the Chief Minister also immensely promoted agriculture sector.

Australian High Commissioner said that strategy is being evolved for further promoting trade between Pakistan and Australia, in this connection a trade delegation is visiting Pakistan in October.

He said Australia Cricket Board and Pakistan Cricket Board are in contact with each other, Australia welcomes revival of cricket in Pakistan.— PRESS RELEASE
