Removal of All Check Posts Across Punjab Other Than Inter-provincial and District Ordered

LAHORE– Inspector General of Punjab Police Capt (retired) Arif Nawaz Khan directed to remove all check posts across Punjab other than inter-provincial and inter district check posts to ensure strict implementation of new SOPs for the checking of vehicles and citizens.

He further said that instead of monitoring through police barriers and check posts, monitoring should be ensured through CCTV cameras and patrolling and police officials should take part in operational activities instead of standing at the police check posts/barriers.

The IG said in case of any misbehave at interprovincial and inter district check posts relevant DSP will be held directly responsible and a strict action will be taken against the responsible according to the discipline matrix.

He further said that citizen can launch a complaint on 8787 IGP Complaint Centre regarding the presence of police check post/barrier anywhere in Punjab, an immediate and strict action will be taken against the responsible officials.

Khan directed that increase in crime rate due to the free registration of crime, police teams should perform actively and senior officers should form special teams to arrest criminals involved in the dacoity, murder abduction and other crimes.

He said that on chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) a four layered security should be provided to the processions and snipers should be installed at roof tops and none should be allowed to enter the processions without checking through metal detectors walk through gate and thorough search.

The Punjab police chief expressed those views while issuing directions to the field officers during video link conference held at Central Police Office today, during meeting law and order situation, crime graph and performance of police teams were reviewed.

During video link conference all RPOs briefed IG Punjab about the crime situation and performance of police teams in their respective regions on which IG Punjab directed all DPOs to personally reach at the scene in cases of violence and rape against children and women and to solve these cases at earliest geo fencing and forensic science must also be utilized.

He further directed all DPOs to share weekly progress reports of the cases about women and children with Central Police Office. He also emphasised to utilize all available resources for the security of Urs Hazrat Usman Ali Hajveri (r.a) and shrine administration must also be consulted while devising a security plan.
