Xinjiang: .Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has called for Chinese cooperation to establish a modern milk and dairy processing industry in Punjab, as the provincial government seeks to expand livestock development and improve rural livelihoods.
During her visit to the headquarters of the Xinjiang Tiernan Wisdom Dairy Company, Maryam Nawaz inspected various sections of modern dairy farming and milk-processing facilities and received a detailed briefing on the company’s operations.
The chief minister said ongoing livestock development projects in Punjab were producing positive results and contributing to the economic empowerment of rural communities.
She highlighted government initiatives aimed at increasing the financial independence of rural women, improving livestock breeding and expanding livestock-fattening programmes to support meat production.
Maryam Nawaz said Punjab wanted to benefit from China’s expertise and technology in the dairy sector by establishing a modern milk and dairy processing project in the province.
The visit was part of efforts to explore opportunities for cooperation with Chinese companies in agriculture, livestock and dairy processing, with the provincial government seeking to introduce modern farming and processing techniques in Punjab.
The proposed cooperation could help strengthen Punjab’s dairy value chain, improve milk processing capacity and create new economic opportunities for farmers and rural communities.
