Wapda Chairman Muzzamil Hussain Elected Pakistan Boxing Federation Chief
LAHORE– Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) has successfully concluded its quadrennial electoral process for the next term 2021 – 2025. The members of the General Council have unanimously elected Wapda chairman Lt Gen (retired) Muzzamil Hussain HI (M), Chairman of the Pakistan Boxing Federation. He will be the new head of the federation.
The unanimously elected office bearers and members of Executive Committee include Mr. Muhammad Khalid Mahmood as President; Mr. Muhammad Asghar as Executive Vice President; Capt. Syed Asad Ali Imran PN, Air Commodore Nadeem Ajmal Khan and Mr. Muhammad Sadiq as Vice Presidents; Begum Ishrat Ashraf and Ms. Shehnaz Kamal as Lady Vice Presidents; Lt Col (R) Muhammad Nasir Ijaz Tung as Secretary General; Lt. Col Nabeel Ahmad Rana as Associate Secretary General / Joint Secretary; Ms. Sumera Sattar as Lady Associate Secretary General / Joint Secretary; Mr. Muhammad Zaeem Nisar Chaudhri as Treasure; Mr. Muhammad Ejaz, Mr. Syed Hafiz ur Rehman Agha, Mr. Sayyad Kamal Khan and Mr. Abdul Razak as Executive Member; and Ms. Fareeha Farooq Khan, Ms. Asma Akram, Ms. Abida Changez and Ms. Zahida Khatoon Qureshi as Lady Executive Members.
It is pertinent to add that PBF, for the very first time in history, has witnessed 35% of women in the Executive Committee of Pakistan Boxing Federation and 40% of women in its Elective General Council to meet the goal of gender balance. The members also welcomed Mr. Awais Ali Khan, the Chair of PBF Athletes Commission and its secretary Ms. Rukhsana Parveen enabling athletes to directly participate in the decision making process of the PBF.
The house was unanimous in thanking the worthy members of the Election Commission of PBF for the successful completion of the electoral process.
Muzzamil Hussain thanked the house for posing confidence in him to lead the PBF in its endeavour to promote and develop Boxing in Pakistan. Welcoming Mr. Awais Ali Khan and Ms. Rukhsana Parveen, he assured them that this house is for them and their fellow athletes. He informed that PBF will devise scholarship programs for the young athletes and training plans for elite boxers to governmental quarters for their support.
He lauded the offer of Army Sports Directorate to organize a camp for elite athletes of Pakistan. He emphasized that it is pertinent for all of us to understand the rules that govern the boxing and entities related to it.
He welcomed all aspiring entities willing to promote boxing and said that we are to facilitate everyone interested in promotion of boxing in Pakistan provided they agree with the rules and regulations of PBF, AIBA and POA. He urged the boxers to play for the country and dream to participate in the Olympics serving their motherland.
