LAHORE MIRROR — Tickets for the much-anticipated 2023 ODI World Cup, set to be hosted across various cities in India, will finally become available for purchase on August 25.

This announcement comes just over 40 days ahead of the tournament’s opening match, scheduled for October 5. The International Cricket Council (ICC) shared this update shortly after revealing a revised schedule for the World Cup, which had experienced significant delays.

Notably, alterations were made to the dates of nine matches, including the highly anticipated clash between cricket rivals India and Pakistan.

The ticket sales will commence with a focus on matches that do not involve India, including both warm-up games and tournament fixtures. Starting on August 25, these tickets will be up for grabs. Subsequently, a phased approach will be implemented for ticket sales related to India’s matches.

This will begin with their two warm-up encounters, the first against England in Guwahati on September 30, followed by a match against either Netherlands or Sri Lanka in Thiruvananthapuram on October 3. The process will then extend to their matches in the main event.

In preparation for the ticket release, cricket enthusiasts have the opportunity to express their interest by registering via the ICC’s official website, specifically at https://www.cricketworldcup.com/register, starting from August 15.

This pre-registration will not only allow fans to receive ticket-related updates ahead of time but also secure their attendance at the World Cup, enabling them to immerse themselves in the excitement of one-day cricket.

Chris Tetley, the ICC’s head of events, encouraged cricket fans worldwide to take advantage of this opportunity, emphasizing the importance of registering interest to receive timely ticket information.

Tetley highlighted that the adjustments made to the schedule were geared towards enhancing the experience for players and fans alike during this pinnacle event of one-day cricket.

It’s worth noting that the timeline for announcing the final schedule and ticketing plan for this World Cup has deviated from the norm. In comparison, tickets for the 2019 ODI World Cup in England and Wales went on sale in September 2018.

Additionally, when the ICC responded to the overwhelming demand for tickets, they initiated a supplementary sale on March 21, 2019. This was in preparation for the tournament’s commencement 70 days later, on May 30.
