School Education Department Announces SBA Guidelines for 2023 Reports

LAHORE MIRROR – – The School Education Department (SED) Government of Punjab has issued a comprehensive notification outlining significant details pertaining to the First Term School-Based Assessment (SBA) Report for the year 2023.

The notification was issued by the CEO of the Punjab Examination Commission here on Tuesday. The notification revealed that introducing the crucial changes aimed at enhancing transparency, allocating funding efficiently, and ensuring a coordinated approach to educational assessment.

One of the most notable aspects of the notification is the decision to have the Provincial Examination Commission (PEC) cover the printing costs for SBA reports.

This move aims to alleviate the financial burden on schools and streamline the assessment process.

The notification also designates the Provincial Assessment Center (PAC) with the critical responsibility of overseeing the accurate upload of SBA results into the School Information System (SIS).

This measure is designed to maintain data integrity and ensure that assessment outcomes are efficiently recorded.

To further facilitate the process, the expenses related to paper printing will be drawn from the existing PEC budget. Schools have been explicitly instructed not to use the National School Budget (NSB) for this purpose.

Additionally, PEC-3 will play a vital role in data sharing, providing comprehensive information about the schools and teachers involved in creating assessment papers, as well as presenting Student Learning Outcomes (SLO) and subject-wise assessment results.

In a move to ensure transparency, PEC has opted for an innovative approach to monitoring. Instead of establishing an independent monitoring team or committee, they will create an internal cell responsible for addressing and resolving queries related to system malfunctions.

Any administrative matters will be referred to the School Education Department (SED) for resolution.

The SED, in turn, will form monitoring teams to oversee the assessment process. To support these teams, the costs associated with their activities will be covered from the existing PEC budget, in accordance with PEC guidelines.

Finally, PEC is required to submit a comprehensive annual plan and obtain prior approval from the Department before initiating any related activities.

This step ensures a structured and coordinated approach to the assessment process.
