LAHORE MIRROR — Pir Asad Shah Jeelani, a prominent figure among the Pirs of Ranipur, has been arrested by Khairpur Police on charges of allegedly causing the death of his 10-year-old maid, Fatima Furiro, in a distressing incident on Thursday.
The incident first gained attention when distressing video clips depicting Fatima’s body, bearing evident signs of severe abuse, circulated widely on social media platforms. The footage reveals the gravely injured girl struggling to sit up on her bed before collapsing.
The circulation of the video led to widespread condemnation across the nation. Fatima Furiro was identified as the daughter of Nadeem Ali Tharro, a resident of Ali Muhammad Tharro village in Khanawahan, near Mehrabpur, District Nausharoferoz. The family is reported to be followers of the Pir of Ranipur.
In response to the viral social media footage, Sukkur DIG Javed Soonharo Jiskani instructed SSP Shikarpur Rohal Khan Khoso and ASP Mohammad Nauman Zaffar to conduct an investigation into the matter. Consequently, SSP Khoso and ASP Zaffar visited the village of Ali Muhammad Furiro to obtain statements from the child’s parents. Initially hesitant to report against the influential Pir, the parents eventually agreed to provide information about the powerful family.
At first, the parents attributed the child’s demise to illness. The victim’s mother, Shabana, stated that Fatima, along with her two other daughters, had been employed as housemaids by Pir Niaz Shah of Ranipur. Among them, Fatima was assigned to work at Asad’s haveli, where she was tragically found dead.
