PTI Govt Surprises Pakistanis With Hike In POL Prices from New Year

ISLAMABAD– As the people of Pakistan were about to enjoy new year celebrations, the PTI government as usual gave them a surprise increase in petrol prices from Wednesday (Jan 1).

That was the Ministry of Finance was quick to accept a summary of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to raise prices of petroleum products.

The price of diesel has also been hiked by Rs 2.25 and kerosene by Rs 3.10 per litre, according to the notification from the finance ministry. 

Petrol will now be available for Rs 116.60 per litre, light diesel Rs 84.51 per litre and Kerosene will now be sold at Rs 99.45 per litre. 

OGRA had recommended to the Petroleum Division to increase prices of petroleum related products for the month of January 2020, on Monday.
