NFPA Appoints Naveed Anjum as Principal Committee Member for NFPA 850
He is the first Pakistani Fire Safety Expert selected as a principal member by NFPA

LAHORE MIRROR – The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) in the United States has appointed Pakistani Fire Safety Expert, Naveed Anjum, as a Principal Committee Member of the Electric Generating Plant Committee (EGPC) for NFPA 850.
According to NFPA’s notification, Naveed Anjum will serve on the Electrical Generating Plant Committee, marking him as the first Pakistani to receive this recognition. This is a significant honor for both Pakistan and his industrial organization, the Lalpir Power Plant (Nishat Group) of Pakistan.
A committee consisting of principal members formed by NFPAF USA, including thirty-one American fire safety experts, has appointed Naveed Anjum as the only Pakistani elected as a principal member of the Electric Generating Plant Committee (EGPC) even in South Asia. The primary goal of this committee is to establish global fire safety standards for power generation plants.
As a result of the committee’s recommendations, NFPA 850, 851, and 853 standards are revised. These standards provide comprehensive fire safety recommendations for various types of electric generating plants, including those using gas, oil, coal, and alternative fuels, as well as high-voltage direct current converter stations and combustion turbine units used for electricity generation.
Naveed Anjum’s appointment as a Principal Committee member within NFPA 850 is a momentous recognition of his expertise and dedication to the field. He is the sole Pakistani representative in this prestigious role. NFPA is a globally respected organization committed to advancing fire safety standards, with NFPA 850 specifically focusing on safety standards for electric generating plants.
Mr. Naveed Anjum expressed his deep gratitude for being selected as a Principal Committee member of the Electric Generating Plants Committee for NFPA 850. It is worth noting that Naveed Anjum currently serves as the Head of the Emergency Response Department at Lal Peer Power Limited (Nishat Group). In addition to holding NFPA International Advanced Membership, he has also earned the distinction of being the only Pakistani with two prestigious NFPA certifications, namely, NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist and NFPA Certified Fire Inspector. Furthermore, he has served as the Honorary Director of the Association of Pakistan, where he sets an example for the promotion of fire protection in Pakistan.
