KMC’s Budget For FY22 to Focus on Karachi’s Construction and Development: Laiq

KARACHI– Administrator Karachi Laiq Ahmed has said that KMC’s budget for the next financial year will be based on facts and will focus on construction and development of the city and provision of facilities in view of the existing budget.
The development work will be increased by reducing the amount. He has requested the Sindh government to pay pension and retirement dues to the employees. He expressed these views while addressing a meeting with the officials of the finance department.
Finance Advisor Ghulam Murtaza Bhutto, Senior Director Coordination Khalid Khan, Director Finance and Accounts Rashid Nizam, Senior Director Media Management Ali Hassan Sajid, Director Budget Nasir Mahmood, Director Welfare Mahmood Baig, Director Finance Wasi Usmani and other officials were also present on the occasion.
Administrator Karachi Laiq Ahmed urged the officers that the budget for the next financial year should be realistic with more focus on providing basic amenities to the citizens. KMC is an institution of citizens and it should be useful for the citizens.
He said that the government should not stand in the way of better payment of local government facilities, as far as possible, a strategy should be adopted to resolve the financial and administrative matters of the employees in a better and transparent manner.
Salaries and pensions continue to be paid so the administrative budget should not be spent on other terms under any circumstances, he said, adding that efforts are being made to pay their dues to retired employees so that relief is provided to employees who have completed their tenure.
The meeting also discussed the timely printing of the budget and reviewed the provision of fire risk allowance to the employees of the fire brigade department. Administrator Karachi Laiq Ahmed said that development and non-development expenditure in the budget for the next financial year.
The balance will be maintained and non-development expenditure will be further reduced as compared to previous years and available resources will be spent on improving the city.
Efforts have also been made to complete the works undertaken under the annual development program in a timely manner. He directed that the budget documents He said that budget recommendations and estimates should be finalized and in full liaison with all the departments of KMC.
He said that provision of basic local government services to the citizens could be made possible only by adopting better and comprehensive financial and administrative strategy.
