Karachi Resident Burns Motorcycle in Protest Against Alleged Police Misconduct
LAHORE MIRROR — In a startling incident, a disgruntled motorcycle rider working for an online ride-hailing service set his bike ablaze in front of the Karachi Press Club in protest against alleged police misconduct on Saturday night.
Sharing his harrowing experience, the rider, identified as Hearson, explained that he had dialed the police helpline, Madadgar-15, upon noticing suspicious individuals near Cantt Station. However, when the police officers arrived at the scene, they questioned the reason for his call and subsequently subjected him to physical abuse, claiming that he appeared intoxicated.
Following the fiery act that consumed his “source of livelihood,” the police detained Hearson and transported him to a police station for further questioning.
In response to the incident, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for South Karachi initiated an inquiry to uncover the facts surrounding the case. The police official pledged that stringent measures would be taken against those found responsible for any wrongdoing.
