LAHORE MIRROR — The Islamabad High Court Monday issued a notice to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan‘s petition seeking post-arrest bail in the cipher case.

The court’s notices came during the hearing of Khan’s bail petition challenging the special court’s decision in the said case last week. The plea was filed by the PTI chairman on Saturday and was fixed for hearing today.

The special court — established under the Official Secrets Act — had rejected the post-arrest bail pleas of Khan and his party’s Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the case of the missing cipher.

IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq issued notices in response to the plea filed by lawyer Salman Safdar on behalf of the PTI chief.

Imran, Qureshi’s Judicial Remand In Cipher Case Extended To September 26

On September 13, in an update, Imran Khan, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the vice-chairman of the party, have had their judicial remand extended in the cipher case.

This special court, established under the Official Secrets Act, decided to extend their remand until September 26.

Imran Khan’s current detention began after he was found guilty in the Toshakhana case on August 5, which revolved around his failure to properly disclose gifts received during his time in government.

Although the Islamabad High Court overturned the lower court’s decision to sentence him to three years in prison and impose a fine of Rs 100,000, it prevented him from participating in upcoming elections. Consequently, he remains in detention due to his involvement in the cipher case.

Last month, the former prime minister was officially detained by the FIA (Federal Investigation Agency) under the Official Secrets Act, marking a significant development in his legal situation.
