LAHORE MIRROR -The 13th edition of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup is set to witness the champions of the 10-team tournament earning a substantial prize of US$4 million, in addition to the coveted trophy they will lift on November 19.
The runners-up will not go empty-handed either, as they are entitled to receive US$2 million. Even the teams that reach the semi-finals and face defeat will be compensated generously, each receiving $800,000 from the total prize pool of US$10 million.
This 48-match extravaganza is scheduled to be hosted across 10 venues, with the action commencing on October 5, as announced in a press release.
In a significant departure from previous editions, this Cricket World Cup is poised to reward teams for each league match victory. Teams will face each other once in a round-robin format, with the top four progressing to the semi-finals.
Notably, the victors of each group stage match will be presented with US$40,000, while the six teams that do not secure semi-final berths will still receive a substantial payment of US$100,000 each.
The breakdown of prize money allocations was as follows: Winner US$ 4,000,000; Runner-up US$ 2,000,000, Losing Semi-Finalist (2) US$ 1,600,000, Teams eliminated after group stage (6) US$ 600,000 & Winner of each group stage match (45) US$ 1,800,000.
