HEC Warns Citizens Against Fake Degree Attestation Services
LAHORE MIRROR — The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has issued a public alert warning against fraudulent activities by imposters claiming affiliation with the organization.
According to the alert, some individuals are making scam calls to extract personal information for the attestation or re-verification of academic documents. The HEC has stressed that it does not authorize any representatives or agents to handle such services.
Imposters are posing as HEC agents and demanding hefty fees for degree verification services, exceeding the standard HEC charges. Fraudulent social media pages have surfaced, offering fake degree verification services.
The public is strongly advised to disregard any calls or social media interactions claiming to offer HEC attestation services.
HEC has clarified that it does not make direct calls or contact individuals for attestation services. To verify degrees, individuals should only use the official HEC attestation portal at eservices.hec.gov.pk or visit the HEC website at www.hec.gov.pk.
Individuals are urged to report scam calls to their telecom operators or lodge a complaint with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) through their website www.pta.gov.pk or by calling the toll-free number 0800-55055. In cases where financial fraud has occurred, individuals should contact the State Bank of Pakistan at [email protected].
