Covid-19 Lockdown: Lahore Police Lodge 2,173 Cases Against Violators

LAHORE– Lahore police has lodged as many 2,173 cases against persons involved in violations of the government’s directions and SOPs devised in the wake of the COVID-19 spread and partial lockdown.

More than 02 lac 17 thousand 465 citizens have been checked at these pickets so far and inquired the reasons of their movement in the city whereas more than 02 lac 06 thousands 200 persons have been issued warning, requesting them to contain their unnecessary movement and go back to their homes and stay safe.

Over 4,430 citizens involved in unnecessary movement were released after taking surety bonds from them as not to move again in city other than in emergency situation. As many as more than 01 lac 94 thousands 719 vehicles including 109880 motorcycles, 28227 rickshaws, 5720 taxis, 40734 cars and 10158 thousand bigger vehicles were stopped on pickets and vehicles owners were issued warnings for their unnecessary movement.

As many as 7655 vehicles have been impounded in different Police stations involved in violations.— HANDOUT
