Be Handle Softly as iPhone 15 Pro Max Cracks Easily

LAHORE MIRROR — The recently launched iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max sport titanium frames, a change aimed at enhancing durability compared to their stainless steel predecessors.

While it’s still early to pass a final judgment on the iPhone 15 Pro’s ruggedness, initial assessments don’t bode well.

Down under in Australia, a series of drop tests appeared to favor the sturdiness of the iPhone 14 Pro over the iPhone 15 Pro. Now, tech enthusiast Zack Nelson has posted a video on his YouTube channel, JerryRigEverything, cautioning users about handling the iPhone 15 Pro Max with care.

In the video, it becomes evident that the phone’s display is impressively resistant to scratches, only exhibiting noticeable marks at a Mohs hardness level of 7. However, the titanium frame proves to be susceptible to scratches, unlike the back of the device. The camera lenses, on the other hand, demonstrate remarkable resilience to scratches.

While the iPhone 15 Pro Max features titanium bands, its internal structure is composed of aluminum, with Apple employing a thermo-mechanical process to weld these two metals together. Notably, the phone’s back glass is removable, which should improve its repairability.

A surprising discovery in Nelson’s test was how easily the back glass cracked when the phone was bent. This departure from the norm, especially for iPhones, left observers puzzled. Nelson theorizes that the back glass might crack more readily due to titanium’s higher tensile strength or because it lacks the elasticity of aluminum, thereby placing more pressure on the glass. Another possibility is that the modular design of the glass makes it more susceptible to breakage, as it is no longer permanently affixed to the back of the phone. However, a silver lining emerges in that the back glass is now more affordable to repair.

Apart from the back glass’s fragility, the iPhone 15 Pro appeared to endure the torture test without major issues, continuing to function perfectly fine by the end of the evaluation.
