ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has ordered the transfer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital on Tuesday for a comprehensive medical examination and treatment. The three-member bench, headed by Justice Shahid Waheed and comprising Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim, directed that Imran be shifted to the hospital under tight security and remain there until the next hearing. ISLAMABAD: The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has asked the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) to increase electricity tariffs by Rs2.52 per unit across the country under the fuel price adjustment for July. According to a Nepra statement, the CPPA submitted the request seeking the tariff adjustment for electricity consumed in July. It said power generated from imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) cost Rs47.37 per unit during the month. ISLAMABAD: The government on Monday raised the price of petrol by Rs5.77 per litre and that of high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs6.47. Following the revision, petrol will retail at Rs331.20 per litre while HSD will cost Rs390.42 per litre. The government continues to levy Rs114 per litre in taxes and duties on petrol and Rs100 per litre on diesel. According to the Petroleum Division’s notification, the new prices will be applicable for August 18 (Tuesday).

ISLAMABAD: The federal government’s debt increased by Rs18.8 trillion during the first 28 months of its tenure, according to State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) data. The SBP’s documents showed that between March 2024 and June 2026, the federal government’s domestic debt rose by Rs16,766 billion, while its external debt increased by Rs2,066 billion. The increase amounts to an average rise of more than Rs22.4 billion in the government’s debt every day during the 28-month period.
