IG Punjab Arif Nawaz Chairs RPOs, DPOs Conference to Issue Latest Commands

LAHORE– Inspector General of Punjab Captain (retired) Arif Nawaz Khan has said the accused involved in abuse of women and children deserved no leniency and regional police officers (RPOs) should ensure solid steps for arresting such criminals.
He pressed for quick working out of such cases under the RPOs’ supervision so that no stone should be left unturned in taking such accused behind the bars and stern punishment.
The IGP gave 15-day dead line to all district police officers (DPOs) in order to arrest heinous proclaimed offenders especially criminals of “A” category.
Khan further said that the officers should be ready to face departmental action if they are found showing lack of interest in taking actions against proclaimed offenders.
He directed the CCPO Lahore, RPOs and DPOs to write letters to Deputy Commissioners (DCs) for cancelation of those licensed weapons which have been used in criminal activities by the accused and also ensure effective follow up of such cases.
The police chief further directed to quickly address the complaints received on Prime Minister Portal on top priority whereas effective use of available resources and human resource to work out cases should be further improved besides controlling of crime.
Those views were expressed by him while giving directions to all RPOs, DPOs conference held  today at central police office under his chair.
During the conference, all RPOs briefed IGP about crime situations and police actions done in their districts during the six months of this year and told that police force is fully alert for protection of wealth and properties of people and actions are being taken against criminals and anti social elements as per directions issued by the central police office.
IGP directed officers to arrest remaining absconders and anti social elements from the listed top 20 criminals of every district while he also emphasized to utilize full potential of latest technology to apprehend the criminals involved in murder, dacoity and ransom kidnapping.
IG Punjab while directing officers said that all RPOs should ensure security plan for Eid Ul Azha under their supervision especially strict action should be taken regarding supervision of individuals named in fourth schedule in the wake of forthcoming month of Muharram Ul Haram and also implement the rules carved out under national action plan in all districts.
He directed that all RPOs and DPOs should review security plan of sensitive places and installations especially educational institutions, mosques, Imam bargahs and churches in their districts and wherever additional force is required, it should be deployed immediately.
He further said that security of foreign experts working in CPEC projects should be ensured on top priority and DPOs should visit CPEC projects in their districts to check the security arrangements regularly.
IG Punjab added all DPOs should submit an inspection report to central police office till 31st of July after conducting stock checking of weapons, bullets and other weapons in their police stations and police posts.
He said that in districts of Attock, Mianwali, Layyah, Bhakkar and Muzaffar Garh along with other districts, the officials and staff who are deputed on riverine check posts should not be sent to another duty and additional squads of police should be deputed over these riverine check posts during the season of monsoon whereas its the prime responsibility of DPO to make proper arrangements for food and residence for the officials deputed over there.
IG Punjab also directed to resolve the old enmities by trying reconciliation and taking surety bonds from the involved parties. All Addl IGs, DIGs, CCPO along with all RPOs, CPOs and DPOs from province were present in meeting.— PRESS HANDOUT
