18-year-old Mehwish becomes victim of honor killing

NANKANA SAHIB (Minute Mirror) — An 18-year-old girl was shot dead by her father and brother in Nankana Shaib on Tuesday, said police.

According to police, 18-year-old Mehwish became a victim of honor killing when her father Manzoor, along with her brother Ali Hasnain and two others, took her life as they opened fire at the girl. The suspects managed to escape afterwards.

Police shifted the dead body to a hospital for postmortem and also a case has been registered against the runaway suspects.

An honor killing is the murder of an individual, either an outsider or a member of a family, by someone seeking to protect what they see as the dignity and honor of themselves or their family. Honor killings are often connected to religion, caste and other forms of hierarchical social stratification, or to sexuality.
