Rescue 1122 Provided Emergency Care to 89,832 Victims in January

LAHORE– Director-General Punjab Emergency Service, Dr Rizwan Naseer said that number of overall emergencies increased in the month of January as compared to December 2020. A total of 88131 emergencies were managed in December 2020, whereas 91,876 emergencies occurred in January 2021 that shows an increase of 3745 emergencies across Punjab. He also highlighted that the medical, crime, and cylinder blasts emergencies increased in January 2021.
DG Rescue Punjab expressed these views while presiding over a monthly performance review meeting held at Rescue Headquarters here on Monday. All head of wings of Rescue Headquarters and Academy were also present at the occasion.
DG Rescue Punjab was apprised by the Provincial Monitoring Cell of Rescue Service that 89832 emergency victims were rescued while responding to 91876 emergencies in all districts of Punjab in January-2021. Out of total emergencies, 25246 were traffic crashes in which 319 people were killed in Punjab last month. Out of which, 13257 were seriously injured who were shifted to different hospitals of Punjab whereas, 18703 minor injured victims were treated at the incident sites.
DG Rescue also observed from monthly emergencies data that during the month of January majority of medical emergencies 6989 occurred in Lahore with an increase of 858 emergencies and 4915 in Faisalabad with an increase of 627 emergencies.
Similarly, a total of 2115 crime emergencies were covered by Rescue Service in the last month and an increased number of crime emergencies were observed in District Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan. Total 19 Cylinder Blasts emergencies were reported in Punjab in which 8 occurred in Lahore 6 in Gujranwala, one each in Rawalpindi, Multan, Jhang, Mianwali, and Khushab.
At the meeting, Dr Rizwan Naseer expressed his grave concern over the increasing number of medical emergencies which can be reduced by little vigilance, regular exercise, a balanced diet, and following COVID-19 safety protocols issued by the Government. He maintained that the cylinder blasts emergencies usually occurred due to negligence or carelessness which are also preventable by vigilance and using quality cylinders.
He appealed to the citizen to dial immediately emergency number 1122 in case of any emergency for timely rescue help because the only timely call can ensure timely emergency help.— PRESS RELEASE
