1,500 Shops to be Constructed at Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Terminal: Laiq Ahmed

KARACHI–Administrator Karachi Laiq Ahmed has said that a master plan of the Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Terminal has been prepared. As many 1,500 shops will be constructed at the terminal. Those who have submitted challans have been handed over shop papers today.
He said this while addressing a function at Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Parking Terminal on Tuesday to hand over shop papers to vendors. Commissioner Karachi Naveed Ahmed Sheikh, Senior Director Estate, Raja Shakur Ahmed of People’s Lines Welfare Association Deputy Commissioner Malir Gahnoor Leghari, Senior Director Coordination Khalid Khan, Director Terminal Imran Siddiqui, Director City Warden Raja Rustam, and other officers were also present on the occasion.
Administrator Karachi Laiq Ahmed said that oil tanker owners here park the tankers and avail all the facilities, all the utility services have been provided. Once the resettlement starts here, there will be developed on a daily basis.
We hope that the oil tanker owners will cooperate with us as this oil tanker parking terminal. All facilities have been provided for the miners, drivers, and other concerned persons which will also facilitate the tanker owners and drivers in their daily affairs.
The terminal has the capacity to park 3200 oil tankers while infrastructure is available for (10) ten thousand persons, out of 200 acres, 150 acres have been allotted for parking of oil tankers and 50 acres for other facilities.
128 toilets including the mosque, ablution room, canteen, rescue unit have been constructed, spacious space allotted for parking of tankers as well as spare parts for vehicles and other facilities including tanker repairing shops have also been provided here as expected.
All facilities will be available to the owners and drivers of oil tankers at the terminal. Orders have been issued to build a 36 feet wide road, a 54-inch diameter water line, 150,000 gallons underground, and 60,000 gallons underground.
There is also an upper tank. Tree planting and greening will also be done, he said, adding that resettlement of Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Terminal will reduce the heavy traffic pressure on the city, allocating 50 acres of land in Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Terminal to provide all the necessities of life.
We realize that those who work hard like operating tankers and trailers need a suitable place to get rid of fatigue where washrooms and other facilities are available, he said. The Karachi Metropolitan Municipality will do whatever it can to invest here within its resources so that this terminal can be brought up to a high standard.
Addressing the function, Commissioner Karachi Naveed Ahmed Sheikh said that Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers The lack of facilities in the terminal will be eliminated, a beautiful park will be built within the terminal, besides hotels, workshops and mosques will be built here and security will be provided here, he said.
He said that on the direction of the Supreme Court, Shereen Jinnah Colony the parking of tankers has been abolished from now on. Action will be taken against the tanker owners who will be parking on the sides of Shereen Jinnah Colony and National Highway.
Earlier, Administrator Karachi Laiq Ahmed and Commissioner Karachi Naveed Ahmed Sheikh inaugurated a block at Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Terminal to provide facilities to drivers and other staff and also planted trees for planting trees within the terminal.
