T20 World Cup 2022 Concludes With New Records

LAHORE MIRROR– The ICC T20 World Cup 2022 has concluded with England’s victory. In the final, England defeated Pakistan by five wickets to win the T20 World Cup trophy for the second time in the History of T20 Cricket.

In this way, England became the first team to be the champions of the ODI World Cup and T20 World Cup at the same time.

In this World Cup, many players managed to score runs while some failed to live up to the expectations. Since T20 is called a game of fours and sixes, first of all we mention the sixes, who hit the most sixes and fours in the tournament.

The Zimbabwean team defeated Pakistan in the tournament and ruined Pakistan’s dream of playing in the semi-finals once. Pakistan-born all-rounder Sikandar Raza of Zimbabwe dominated the entire tournament. He scored 219 runs in eight matches and hit 11 sixes and held the record for most sixes in the tournament. Apart from this, he also took 10 wickets. He has become the first player in the world to took ten wickets and scored more than two hundred runs in the history of T20 World Cup.

Both Muhammad Haris and Iftikhar Ahmed hit six sixes from Pakistan side. However, Mohammad Haris hit six sixes in just four matches while Iftikhar Ahmed won this honor by playing seven matches.

Rilee Rossouw of South Africa has the honor of hitting the most sixes in an innings. He hit eight sixes in an innings against Bangladesh. Pakistan’s Iftikhar Ahmed stood out for Pakistan by hitting four Sixes in one innings in the opening match against India. UAE’s Junaid Siddique hit the highest six in the tournament against Sri Lanka. He hit a six of 109 meters while Pakistan’s Iftikhar Ahmed hit a six of 106 meters against South Africa and took the second position among the batsmen who hit the longest six in T20 Wc 2022.

India’s Surya Kumar Yadav hit the highest number of fours in the tournament by hitting 26 fours, while Mohammad Rizwan hit the highest number of fours from Pakistan. He hit 15 fours against the rival bowlers in the tournament.

The honor of scoring the most runs in the tournament went to India’s legendary batsman Virat Kohli, who played six matches and scored 296 runs at an average of 98.66. Virat Kohli is the only batsman in the world to have scored the most runs in three editions of the T20 World Cup. Pakistan’s highest score of 175 runs was scored jointly by opening batsmen Mohammad Rizwan and Shan Masood by playing seven matches each.
Virat Kohli is also the top run-scorer in the tournament with the highest average, while the best average for Pakistan was Shaun Masood who scored runs at an average of 43.75 in seven matches.
The highest strike-rate in the tournament among batsmen with at least fifty runs was India’s Surya kumar Yadav, who scored runs at a strike rate of 189.68 in six matches. The best strike rate for Pakistan was Shadab Khan who scored 98 runs with a strike rate of 168.96 in 6 matches.

Only two centuries were scored in the tournament, one of which was scored by South Africa’s Rilee Rossouw against Bangladesh and one by New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips against Sri Lanka. India’s Virat Kohli topped the list with four half-centuries while Pakistan’s middle-order batsman Iftikhar Ahmed scored two half-centuries in 6 matches.
Zimbabwe’s Chikabwa suffered the most number of zero and failed to open the account three times in eight innings.

The biggest partnership of the tournament was made by England against India in the semi-final, Buttler and Alex Hales made a partnership of 170 runs, which is the highest T20 World Cup first wicket partnership record so far. On behalf of Pakistan, the pair of Muhammad Rizwan and captain Babar Azam formed a partnership of 105 runs in the semi-final against New Zealand.

Now, if we review the performance of the bowlers, Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga took the most wickets in T20 World Cup 2022, who took 15 wickets in 8 matches. Pakistan’s fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi stood out on ist rank for Pakistan by taking eleven wickets in seven matches.

Now we talk about the performance of wicketkeepers, T20 World Champion England captain Jos Buttler topped the list with 9 catches behind the wickets in 6 matches. Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan guided 4 players to the pavilion from behind the wickets in 7 matches.

Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka holds the record for the most catches by a fielder. He held 9 catches in eight matches. Pakistan’s Muhammad Wasim hold five catches in six matches.
The best player of the tournament, England’s Sam Curran, who took 13 wickets in six matches, played an important role in making his team the World Cup champion.
