LAHORE MIRROR — Actress Srha Asgar has lodged a First Investigation Report (FIR) against a man who assaulted her outside her residence in Karachi on August 1.

As per media reports, Asgar has initiated legal proceedings invoking sections 354 (assault or criminal force against a woman with the intention to violate her modesty) and 452 (unauthorized entry into a residence with the intent to inflict harm, assault, or wrongful restraint) of the Pakistan Penal Code. These charges carry a combined maximum sentence of up to seven years in imprisonment along with fines.

The incident was officially recorded on the evening of August 1 at Sharae Faisal police station, with Asgar personally submitting the complaint.

In her petition, the actress from “Meer Abru” mentioned that an unidentified man stalked her from a nearby marketplace to her home on Rashid Minhas Road around 10:50 pm.

According to her statement, the unknown man catcalled and pursued her until her doorstep, where the situation escalated into a physical assault, resulting in the tearing of her clothes.

Per media reports, Asgar’s formal statement indicated that she immediately signalled her husband, Omar Murtaza, who promptly intervened.

She further stated that she rushed inside her house, and neighbours assembled. After inquiries, they discovered the assailant’s name as Asim and handed him over to the police for arrest.

Taking to her Instagram account, Srha Asgar shared a post urging media outlets to refrain from soliciting interviews with her and her spouse.

“I implore all members of the media to refrain from contacting me regarding the incident. It is disheartening that they persistently reach out to us for interviews, seemingly for the sake of their ratings. Furthermore, I condemn the news channel that divulged our personal information in conjunction with the incident. We are grateful to report that we are safe,” she wrote.
