LAHORE– The Punjab government has appointed Principal Gujranwala Medical College Professor Maroof Aziz Khan as Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University of Health Sciences(UHS). The Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education department issued a notification in this regard on Tuesday.
Professor Maroof Aziz Khan is an ENT specialist and is considered one of the top health professionals in the country. He is the second pro-vice chancellor of UHS. Under Section 14 of UHS Ordinance 2002, he has been appointed for a term of three years.
Professor Maroof Aziz Khan is a graduate of Allama Iqbal Medical College, Lahore. He taught at King Edward Medical University for more than 20 years. Besides, Prof. Maroof has also served in Sheikh Zayed Hospital and Jinnah Hospital, Lahore. He has more than 25 years of experience in teaching and research and around 30 research papers to his credit published in national and international scientific journals.
Immediately after his appointment, Prof. Maroof Aziz called on UHS Vice Chancellor Prof. Javed Akram. On this occasion, UHS VC congratulated Prof. Maroof on his new appointment.
He said that the professor is a well-known health professional, an excellent administrator and a good friend. “I believe that the appointment of Prof. Maroof will accelerate the development journey of UHS”, Prof. Javed Akram said adding that the newly appointed Pro-VC would pay special attention to the affairs of varsity’s Jinnah Campus, Kala Shah Kaku.— PRESS RELEASE
