Punjab CTD Arrests 4 Alleged Terrorists of Banned Militants Outfits

LAHORE MIRROR — The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in the Punjab province has foiled a major terror plot by arresting four suspected terrorists linked with a banned out during operations in different areas of Punjab.

According to the spokesman, the CTD Punjab conducted 71 intelligence-based operations in different districts of the province to effectively deal with any untoward incident of terrorism, in which 71 suspected persons were interrogated and four alleged terrorists were arrested with weapons, explosives, and other prohibited materials.

Among the arrested terrorists are Ajmal, Feroz, Hamid Bashir, and Syed Awais, he said and added that the terrorists belong to banned organizations Tehrek e Taliban Pakistan, Dash, and Bloach Liberation Army.

The arrest was made during intelligence-based operations in Rawalpindi, he said and added that explosives of 2430 grams, detonators 17, a safety fuse 29 feet, and 20090 rupees in cash have been recovered from the possession of the terrorists. The spokesman said that the terrorists had planned to sabotage the province and wanted to target important installations and other religious places. The police have registered cases against the arrested alleged terrorists and shifted them to an unknown location, he added.

He said that 395 combing operations were also conducted during this week with the help of local police and security agencies, 20940 persons were checked, 108 suspects were arrested, 96 FIRs were registered and 37 recoveries were made.
