LAHORE– Advisor to PM on Commerce, Textile, Industry and Production Abdul Razak Dawood will open 35th World Fashion Convention being held in Nov 2019 in Lahore first time in the history along with the International Apparel Federation (IAF) president Han Bekke.
On the first day of the grand show a welcome dinner will be held at Lahore’s Governor House. The mega fashion show, aimed at presenting softer image of Pakistan abroad, is expected to host delegates from over 45 countries, as the PRGMEA- the host of the event- is inviting all embassies of the leading countries while different associations of the textile value chain of the country have also been taken onboard in this regard.
International Apparel Federation (IAF) regional president and PRGMEA chief coordinator Ijaz Khokhar stated that the whole textile chain bodies of the country have been involved to avail maximum opportunity of this mega global summit.
The textile associations which will participate in the event include All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA), Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA), Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PHMA), All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association (APTPMA), Pakistan Bedwear Exporters Association, Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) and Towel Manufacturers Association of Pakistan (TMA) etc.
The world renowned speakers, well-known fashion designers, buyers, brands and fashion houses will attend the multi-day mega fashion show featuring panel discussions, lectures and workshops about the textile and garment industry.
Ijaz Khokhar said that the main focus is to send a soft image of Pakistan, to give the participant knowledge about what Pakistan produces, and to allow interaction between the Pakistani exporters and international textile chain.
The delegates will tour Pakistani garment and textile factories and also be able to view a Pakistan’s products showcase at the hall where the convention will be held. International designers and companies will also speak at the sessions of the convention.
He said the visiting delegates, many of whom would be visiting Pakistan for the first time, will see physically with their own eyes the products of Pakistan, the standard of our textile and garment companies.
The event will establish friendship and connections, exchanging business cards and ideas, making individual relationships grow stronger with rest of the world and its people. Among this year’s attendees will be Li & Fung Limited, the Hong Kong-based supply chain giant primarily for US and EU brands, department stores and hypermarkets.
He said that the Li and Fung’s chief operating officer will also be one of our speakers along with several Chinese companies from Hong Kong who will also come and join this session. He termed the event as a large scale social networking opportunity for both foreigners and locals.
IAF regional president also announced to hold Global Fashion Awards (GFA) 2019 during this 35th World Fashion Convention. It will be the IAF-PRGMEA’s largest sustainable fashion competition in Pakistan, aimed at educating young fashion designers about sustainable design techniques and theories.
It will also provide a platform in the spotlight for these aspiring designers. The competition will challenge young designers to put their creative powers to the test by proving their ability to transform textile waste into wearable, appealing and commercially viable products.
The top ten finalists will be presenting their creations at the Gala Dinner at the 35th World Fashion Convention on 12th of Nov.— PRESS RELEASE
