PML-N’s Senator Rana Maqbool Ahmad dies in Lahore

LAHORE MIRROR — PML-N Senator Rana Maqbool Ahmad died in Lahore on Tuesday after being ill for some time.

According to the Senate’s official website, Senator Rana Maqbool Ahmad was elected to the upper house of Parliament as a representative on a general seat. Commencing his tenure in March 2018, his expected term was set to run until 2024. Notably, he held the position of Chairman for the Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat.

Upon learning of Senator Rana Maqbool Ahmad’s passing, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani conveyed his deepest condolences to the grieving family. He remarked, “His service to the nation as a senator and his remarkable compassion as a human being leave an indelible legacy. In these challenging moments, may his family find solace in the overwhelming outpouring of love and support from our nation. May Allah, in His infinite mercy, grant Senator Rana Maqbool Ahmed a place in Jannah, for his unwavering dedication to our country and his exemplary character. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.”

Sanjrani also shared that he had personally reached out to Senator Maqbool’s son, Rana Talal, to offer his condolences, describing the late senator as an “excellent political worker and parliamentarian.”

PML-N President and former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his deep grief and sorrow over the passing of the party leader. In an official statement, Shehbaz stated that it was a “sad day for the PML-N family,” underscoring that Senator Maqbool had been a close and trusted associate of the party’s leader, Nawaz Sharif.

He continued, saying, “This decades-old friendship continued till the end with the same mutual trust and love. Rana Maqbool was a brave, serious, and intelligent personality. During his police service, he did valuable work for the eradication of crime, and his services to the nation will be remembered forever.”
