Pakistan Triumphs in World Junior Squash After 37 Years
Hamza Khan clinches victory in World Junior Squash Championship
LAHORE MIRROR – Young Hamza Khan made a spectacular comeback in the World Junior Squash Championship in Melbourne, bringing Pakistan back to the podium. He defeated Egypt’s Mohamed Zakaria in the final with a scoreline of 3-1 (10-12, 14-12, 11-3, 11-6).
This victory marks Pakistan’s first World Junior Squash title in almost 40 years since Jansher Khan’s win in 1986. The final was intense, with two closely contested games ending in tiebreakers. However, Hamza dominated the next two games to secure his 3-1 win.

In the second game, Zakaria took the lead with a score of 12-10 after 26 minutes of play. But Hamza showed great resilience, coming back from an 8-10 deficit and winning the game 14-12.
The following two games were entirely different, as Hamza won the third game comfortably in just 6 minutes with a score of 11-3 and then secured the fourth game with a score of 11-6.
Before reaching the final, Hamza had an intense match against French player Melvil Scianimanico, where he prevailed in the decider after being two games and match point down.
