Pakistan Poised to Facilitate Russia-Ukraine Dialogue: Foreign Office
LAHORE MIRROR — Pakistan expressed its willingness to play a constructive role in facilitating a dialogue between Russia and Ukraine to resolve the ongoing conflict between the two nations.
Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, emphasised the importance of dialogue for bringing an end to the hostilities. “Baloch acknowledged that both Russia and Ukraine are close friends of Pakistan, highlighting the recent flurry of visits between Pakistan and the Russian Federation. The country hopes for a speedy resolution to the conflict through constructive communication and dialogue,” he said.
Regarding a recent visit to Iran by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, the FO spokesperson dismissed the notion that civilians had been sidelined in foreign policy decision-making. She explained that Pakistan and Iran share a multifaceted relationship in various domains, such as economics, politics, connectivity, science and technology, education, culture, and defense and security.
She further reiterated that Pakistan will continue to raise concerns with Afghan authorities, urging Afghanistan to fulfill its commitments and prevent its soil from being used for terrorism against Pakistan.
Addressing recent remarks by the Indian Minister for External Affairs about Azad Kashmir, the FO said that that it is a fanciful imagination to consider Azad Jammu and Kashmir as part of India. She asserted that it has never been and will never be part of India, urging India to stop such illusions.
