Pak Army, Punjab Rangers to be Deployed for Asia Cup 2023 Security

LAHORE MIRROR – The Federal Cabinet approved the deployment of the Pakistan Army and Punjab Rangers to ensure comprehensive security during the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, as reported by TV channels.

It has been stated that the request for army and Ranger’s deployment was made by the Punjab caretaker government.

A formal proposal was subsequently submitted by the Ministry of Interior, and the cabinet has now given its consent through a circulation process.

Anticipation surrounds the forthcoming Asia Cup 2023, set to be co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka, scheduled from August 30 to September 17.

The tournament will commence with a high-stakes match between Pakistan and Nepal in Multan.

Reports detail that the army and Punjab Rangers will assume security responsibilities from August 27 to September 6.

While the Punjab Rangers will be positioned in the second tier within Quick Reaction Forces (QRFs), the Pakistan Army’s deployment will operate in the third tier QRF mode. Notably, specialized forces will remain on standby to reinforce security measures.

It’s important to note that the Asia Cup encompasses four matches to be held in Pakistan from August 30 to September 6.

While the inaugural match is slated for Multan, the subsequent three encounters are scheduled to unfold at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.
