LAHORE MIRROR – Nawaz Sharif is anticipated to return to Pakistan next month, according to a statement made by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif during an interview with a private TV channel on Friday evening. The Prime Minister announced that Nawaz Sharif will lead the upcoming general election campaign.

Shehbaz Sharif further conveyed his intention to travel to London to meet his elder brother Nawaz as soon as the caretaker government assumes control.

“The exact date of Nawaz’s homecoming remains unspecified; however, the incumbent Prime Minister affirmed, ‘Nawaz Sharif will come back to Pakistan next month and will face the law while spearheading the election campaign,'” stated the Prime Minister.

Nawaz Sharif sought medical treatment in London in November 2019 after being convicted by an accountability court in graft cases. He has remained in self-imposed exile in London due to health reasons since then.

In 2016, Nawaz relinquished his position as the Prime Minister following a Supreme Court decision that disqualified him for life due to asset concealment.

Subsequently, the PML-N leader was found guilty in the Al-Azizia and Avenfield Apartment cases, which were filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) following the Panama Papers leak.
