LAHORE MIRROR (By Web Correspondent)–Former Governor Punjab Lt. Gen. (R) Khalid Maqbool and President of Jazba Foundation (JF) distributed stitching machines, beauty parlor equipment, and computers among 47 skilled women to empower them in the country. As many as 17 industrial jockey sewing machines, beauty parlor equipment, and four computerized knitting machines worth Rs. 3.24 million were distributed free of cost among women able to run their own businesses and become self-reliant in a family.

These views were expressed by Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Khalid Maqbool while addressing a ceremony held at the Royal Palm Club here on Saturday. The colleagues of Lt. Gen. (R) Khalid Maqbool from the Pakistan Army, Jazba Foundation officials, donors, and people from different walks of life were also present.

Addressing the ceremony, Maqbool said that education and health issues facing women, access to medical treatment facilities, a better quality of life, and the healthy development of children required financial empowerment of women. He said that along with education, women should also get training in various fields including handicrafts, as skilled women are able to run their own businesses for better education and health opportunities for their children. He stated that Jazba Foundation was struggling for women’s empowerment by providing business opportunities to the skilled and entrepreneur women who were running small businesses due to a shortage of resources. The Foundation is providing jockey sewing machines, beauty parlor equipment, chairs, appliances, beauty kits, and a complete set of computers to establish an education center for skilled deserving women deprived of resources to start or expand their own business.

Khalid Maqbool highlighted that JF with the financial support of philanthropists, 1000 skilled women had so far been able to expand their business or start a new business at a cost of Rs 96 million with jockey industrial sewing machines, beauty parlor equipment, and computers for setting up computer education centers provided by the foundation. The women suffered from many domestic and social problems due to the lack of resources and poverty. JF with the help of wealthy people and philanthropists would continue to help skilled women in achieving their goal of self-sufficiency.
