Indoor, Outdoor Games Should Be Promoted To Protect Our Generation From Negative Activities: Laiq Ahmed

KARACHI– Administrator Karachi Laiq Ahmed has said that the participation of a large number of Karachi athletes and youth in various competitions under the Sports Gala on the occasion of Pakistan Day is proof that youth want to brighten the name of Pakistan by participating in positive activities.
He said this while distributing prizes among the successful participants of the cycle race held on the occasion of Pakistan Day. Senior Director Coordination Khalid Khan, Senior Director Culture Sports and Recreation Mansoor Qazi, Consultant Syed. Khursheed Shah, Director Sports Kanwar Ayub, and other officials were also present on the occasion.
The cycle race was held on the route of Green Line Bus Service from Nagan Chowrangi to Mazar-e-Quaid. A sports gala has been organized to promote it, while KMC’s cricket, hockey, and football teams have also been formed which will regularly participate in various competitions in and out of the city, he said. The sports complex is being activated for sports activities.
Meanwhile, the organizers of KMC playgrounds which are owned by various institutions and organizations have been directed to provide opportunities for the general public to play in these playgrounds, and walking tracks should be constructed around the big playgrounds so that the citizens can enjoy it.
“Sports are very important for mental and physical health and indoor and outdoor sports need to be promoted to protect the new generation from negative activities,” he said. The national hockey team was number one in the world but now it is a matter of concern to be number seventeen.
Similarly, we are losing our place in cricket. We have to promote our national sport of hockey as well as cycling, squash, badminton, and gymnastics. Boxing and other sports must also be promoted, he said, adding that Karachi has produced great players of the world in the past and even today the youth of Karachi has the potential to make a name for themselves in sports.
We provide opportunities and facilities to these youth. 26 cyclists take part in bicycle race: Muhammad Irfan I, Bilal II and Shoaib Thirdly, the first place cyclist was given Rs. 10,000 and a trophy, the second-place winner was given Rs. 7,000 and a trophy and the third-place winner was given Rs. 5,000 and a trophy as a reward while all the cyclists were encouraged.
