Illegally Parked Oil Tankers Being Shifted Out Of Karachi on SC Orders, Says Laiq

KARACHI– Administrator Karachi Laiq Ahmed has said that under the orders of the Supreme Court, work has been started to shift the illegally parked oil tankers from Shereen Jinnah Colony and surrounding areas out of the city.
Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Rental challans have been issued for the land allotted for services connected to oil tankers at the terminal and for the shops to be built there, he added.
Oil companies should cooperate with KMC in transferring oil tankers to the terminal and pay their share in the construction of the terminal, he said while addressing a meeting held at his office on Friday regarding activation of Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Terminal.
On the occasion, Senior Director Coordination Khalid Khan, Director General Works Shabiha Al Hasnain Zaidi, Senior Director Estate Imtiaz Abro, Director Land Tariq Siddiqui, Director Terminal Imran Siddiqui, and other officers were also present.
Zulfiqarabad oil tankers’ shopkeepers constructing shops in Reminal have been asked to collect their rent from the MC of Annexe Building Headquarters located in the office of the Director of State within seven days, in case the shopkeepers fail to pay their invoices on time. They will be deemed to have relinquished their rights and KMC will not consider them eligible for re-issuance of shop leases.
Administrator Karachi Laiq Ahmed directed Director General Works to immediately release water at Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Terminal. Arrange for connection, maintenance of washroom, and provision of fans and furniture in the retiring area to facilitate tankers, drivers, and other staff.
In addition, Administrator Karachi Laiq Ahmed also held a meeting with officials of oil companies. He requested them to cooperate with KMC in the transfer of oil tankers at Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Terminal and to pay the share which was to be provided to these oil companies for the construction of Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Terminal. He said that the oil tankers are full.
They do not allow them to park on the roads and other places along the way so that the flow of traffic is maintained and heavy traffic can be transferred from the city to the designated places.
