How Much Defense Budget is Being Allocated for New Financial Year?
LAHORE MIRRORR — The coalition government is expected to allocate Rs1,800 billion for defense in the budget of the next financial year (2023-24).
Sources said the National Economic Council has prepared the targets for the budget of the next financial year, on which Finance Minister Ishaq Dar briefed Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
They said the budget for the next fiscal year has been prepared with a fiscal deficit of 7.7 percent of the GDP, a budget of 7.1 percent of the federal and provincial governments has been prepared.
According to sources, the budget will have a financial deficit of more than 6,000 billion, while 7,300 billion will be spent on debt and interest payments.
It is proposed to allocate Rs430 billion for Benazir Income Support Program.
Sources further said that a target of Rs9,200 billion has been allocated for the FBR, while a target of Rs2,800 billion has been allocated for non-tax revenue.
