LAHORE MIRROR — Samsung is set to launch its highly expected smart ring, dubbed the ‘Galaxy Ring,’ in 2024, with a focus on advanced health monitoring capabilities.

According to the reports, the company is working closely with both domestic and international component manufacturers to ensure a successful product before potentially proceeding with mass production, a decision that might be finalized as early as next month.

The Galaxy Ring will come equipped with built-in sensors that gather detailed body and health data, conveniently accessible on a connected smartphone. One notable feature is its adjustable design, allowing users to customize the fit according to their finger size, reducing the risk of data inaccuracies caused by loose fittings.

Despite the exciting prospects, Samsung faces some development challenges, including addressing issues related to weak blood flow and overly tight fits that could affect data accuracy. Moreover, if mass production is approved, obtaining the necessary medical device certification could take 10 to 12 months, potentially leading to delays in the product’s availability.

Looking ahead, Samsung has ambitious plans for the Galaxy Ring, considering its integration with XR (mixed reality) devices. Patent applications reveal the intention to leverage XR technology, using cameras and sensors to track users’ head and hand movements. This integration aims to enhance user experiences and expand the ring’s functionalities beyond health monitoring.

Adding to the buzz around the Galaxy Ring, a recent discovery by a Reddit user uncovered hints of potential compatibility with third-party smart rings. The Samsung Health beta app includes a “Feature List” that mentions “Ring Support,” indicating that Samsung might either plan to collaborate with other smart ring manufacturers or enable compatibility with third-party rings on its Health platform.

With the upcoming launch of the Galaxy Ring, Samsung is poised to make a significant impact in the wearables market, combining cutting-edge technology with health monitoring capabilities and potentially opening the door to a new era of smart ring integration.
