DIG Rai Babar Takes Round Of City Roads To Check Citizens, Police Personnel

LAHORE– DIG Operations Lahore Rai Babar Saeed visited the pickets on Wednesday to review  arrangements made such as checking mechanism of citizens and precautionary measures taken by deputed police personnel.

Lahore police continued to ensure measures including strict implementation on section 144 to contain the unnecessary movement of the public in the city during the partial lockdown imposed by Punjab government in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.

The Lahore police operations wing has set up special pickets in different areas of the city to contain people from unnecessary movement.

More than 01 lac 24 thousands 900 citizens have been checked at these pickets till now since the lock down whereas more than 01 lac 16 thousands persons have been asked to contain their unnecessary movement in the city and go back to their homes.

DIG Operations Rai Babar Saeed informed that as many as 1,537 FIRs have been registered against persons involved in violations of sections 144.

More than 3,690 citizens involved in were release afterwards taking warranty bonds as not to move again in city unnecessarily. As many as 106,002 vehicles including 61,357 motorcycles, 19,937 cars, 16,251 rickshaws, 2,723 taxis and 5,734 bigger vehicles were stopped on pickets and vehicles owners were issued warnings for unnecessary movement in the city.

The DIG Operations has made appeal with the citizens to cooperate with police and other law-enforcement agencies, refrain from any unnecessary movement in the city.

All stake holders in society need to play their pivotal role in fight against corona virus, besides strictly adhering to the advisory on precautionary measures so that every citizen could be saved from the disease, Rai Babar Saeed concluded.— HANDOUT
