LAHORE MIRROR – In the year 2023, the Lanka Premier League (LPL) bore witness to a historic moment when Babar Azam, Pakistan’s cricket sensation, ignited the field with his 10th T20 century. On August 7th, his splendid performance led the Colombo Kings to victory as he scored a remarkable 104 runs off 59 balls against the Galle Titans.
This remarkable feat not only secured a win for his team but also earned Babar a spot in the exclusive club of T20 centurions, where Chris Gayle stands as the record holder with an incredible 22 centuries.
In LPL’s 10th match at Pallekele International Stadium, Babar Azam etched his name alongside Chris Gayle, becoming only the 2nd man in T20 history to achieve 10 centuries.
Azam’s journey in the Lanka Premier League began with a humble 7-run start, but he swiftly regained momentum, scoring 59 and 41 in the following matches.
The Pakistan skipper’s consistency shines through with 30 centuries across formats, 3 of which are in T20Is. He’s not only the fastest to reach 2,000 T20I runs in just 52 innings, but also during the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, he set records for the most fifties (4) and runs (303) in a single edition.
