KARACHI (Lahore Mirror) — An anti-terrorism court (ATC) hearing the Mustafa Amir murder case in Karachi Central Jail on Saturday allowed the prosecution’s request to club all cases pending against prime suspect Armaghan.
Jail authorities produced Armaghan and co-accused Shiraz before the court during the proceedings.
The court, however, rejected a defence request to remove the anti-terrorism provisions from the cases and transfer the proceedings to a sessions court.
During the hearing, the prosecutor argued that Armaghan had been using delaying tactics and requested that all cases registered against him be heard together.
Defence lawyer Javed Mir Sheikh said the defence had no objection to consolidating the cases but maintained that the proceedings should be conducted strictly in accordance with the law.
Several serious cases, including murder, an alleged police encounter and attempted murder, have been registered against Armaghan at Darakhshan police station.
Mustafa Amir was allegedly murdered around a year and a half ago. His body was subsequently reportedly set on fire. The murder case is currently being heard by the anti-terrorism court.
