Lahore: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has rejected Pakistan’s request to remove match referee Andy Pycroft, and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has also been informed in this regard.
ICC also did not accept Pakistan’s stance that the match referee made a controversial move under pressure from the Indian team; it was actually a member of the Asian Cricket Council present on the ground who told Pycroft not to do the “handshake”.

According to media reports, instead of removing Pycroft from the entire Asia Cup, the option of excluding him only from Pakistan’s matches is being considered, and in those matches, former West Indian cricketer Richie Richardson is likely to be appointed as match referee.

On the other hand, consultation with the government is expected from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to decide the future course of action, and an important meeting has been called in this regard.

According to sources, the PCB will make a decision regarding the Pakistan cricket team’s matches in the Asia Cup after consultation with senior officials.

It should be noted that match referee Andy Pycroft refused to shake hands with captain Agha Salman during the Pakistan-India match.
