LAHORE– The Primary and Secondary Healthcare department Punjab has sealed 51 manufacturing units after finding fake and substandard medicines.
As many 1,180 medicine manufacturing units were inspected within a week.
It was revealed by P&S Healthcare Secretary retired Captain Muhammad Usman who said inspection against substandard and fake medicine manufacturers was being monitored by himself.
As per details, 176 medicine samples had been picked over suspected elements while nine samples had been declared illegal over substandard elements.
Two cases were filed against the manufactures over counterfeiting.
As many 81 cases has been referred to District Quality Board as well as five others to the Provincial Quality Control Board.
As many as 69 cases has been referred to the Drug Court for persecution while court has been given judgment in nine cases. An amount of Rs0.77 million has been fined over finding guilty in nine cases.
Muhammad Usman has made it clear that for eradication of substandard and fake medicine, precise policies are being constituted as well as crackdowns against counterfeiters.— PRESS RELEASE
